Description
‘The Tier 1 allocation board has decided to award 4420 node days to your Tier1 application for 6 months with 1 TB scratch space.
All mandated persons have previous (multi-year) Tier 1 and Tier 2 experience. The project is clearly described as an HTC project. The amount of computing time requested in itself justifies the use of Tier 1 resources.
The proposal lacks details like the size of the lattice and the number of nodes. Furthermore, the board misses insight in the common points between previous works and this project.
From the HTC nature, the board assumes (or even suggests) using 1 node per run (if memory requirements allow so). The only mention of parallel usage can be found on Page 7 where linear scaling is claimed within the range of interest (
In future proposals, the board expects a motivation for the number of cores and if this is based on an appendix, the link to the appendix (the result which is referred to) should be made clear.’
