We have to admit that writing papers is an old fashioned and inefficient way to share knowledge. Let's try Wiki! It can at least help us writing papers more efficiently. The primary purpose is to limit double work when it comes to literature studies. Rules of the game:

  • write in condensed form (default English, no plain text, no full or long sentences, no fancy grammar)
  • define abbreviations, don't use too many
  • use markup to structure
  • use DOI's and permalinks to refer to papers
  • collaborate and improve
  • collect info about one topic on one page
  • a small portion of pythonesque humor is strongly encouraged

  • Tips and Tricks

The search engines of some publishers (ACS, Elsevier) outperform the WOS Web of Science.
    ASAP's are earlier
Keyword search in the entire paper (WOS only has abstracts)
    Reverse DOI resolver: http://www.crossref.org/SimpleTextQuery/
